2005: Humble beginnings

The story of The Adaptavist Group has humble origins that evolved over the years to transform us into an intercontinental technology powerhouse. Our history begins in 2005, not as a Group, but as a single company named Adaptavist. Adaptavist’s original mission was to help users get the most from Atlassian products. Back then, all team members worked fully remotely without an office location—some of the earliest hires’ interviews occurred in person in living rooms. Soon, the business got an office to host client meetings. A year after forming, Adaptavist quickly won recognition after it launched its first app and also the first app for Atlassian’s Confluence, ThemeBuilder. This helpful app allowed developers to customise their Confluence’s appearance to match their organisation’s brand.

2010–2021: Expansion and acquisitions

At the turn of the decade in 2010, Atlassian approached Adaptavist with the unique opportunity to help build and launch the iconic Atlassian Marketplace, significantly strengthening Adaptavist’s relationship with Atlassian. This shone a bright light on the company, pushing board advisor Simon Haighton-Williams to take over as CEO in 2011, keen to unleash the company’s limitless potential.
In 2014, Adaptavist expanded its reach by acquiring the popular Jira automation and customisation app, ScriptRunner. This same year, the company expanded into North America to better serve the region. Spurred on by the success of ScriptRunner’s purchase, Adaptavist went on to acquire Brew Digital in 2018 to manage its web development and design work. In 2019, it solidified its global status by launching into continental Europe and Malaysia, winning even more international customers and partners. Its reputation was also bolstered this same year by partnering with the instant messaging app, Slack.
2020 was another monumental year. Adaptavist gained another huge partnership by teaming up with GitLab. OrahApps, creator of apps for Trello, became the newest member of the dynamic family, but not for long. Adaptavist then launched Salable, an open SaaS marketplace. In 2021, Adaptavist welcomed agile transformation experts Aligned Agility to the family.

2022: A new chapter

2022 presented challenging economic conditions around the world, but Adaptavist weathered the storm. With a team of over 500 people, the company opened a new global headquarters in London and a North American headquarters in Toronto. The project management company monday.com created a new partnership, commencing multiple creative avenues of working together. In addition to this, Adaptavist went on an international acquisition spree with agile transformation specialists Gravity Works in South Africa, Rozdoum in Ukraine, Nimaworks in Cyprus and Greece, and veniture in Germany, Turkey, and Croatia.
Naturally, with so many acquisitions, Adaptavist launched The Adaptavist Group as the parent company of all of these brands, marking a new chapter and the start of our Group identity.

2023–present: Growing as The Adaptavist Group

2023 continued our growth as The Adaptavist Group, with Venue.sh launching to help businesses automate their DevOps pipelines. Kolekti also launched as a rebranding of OrahApps, providing products for Confluence and monday.com, as well as Trello.
